Britannia Parking was contracted by Whitgift shopping centre in Croydon to provide ANPR car parking installation and management services. In addition to supplying a full installation of car park equipment and on-going management services, Britannia was tasked with optimising and coming up with new revenue streams.
What Car Park Management Solutions did we offer?
First, we analysed camera and pay station data to understand a range of factors, including vehicle movements around the car park, dwell times (the length of stay), the number of repeat users, and car park income by tariff band. This would enable us to install ticket machines in the right places and optimise tariffs and the tariff bands to ensure the shopping centre was maximising its income.
We installed a fully funded ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) controlled car park system, and to facilitate payment, we installed six pay stations with contactless payment, coin, chip and pin, and pay by phone payment options in carefully selected locations.
Optimising and coming up with new revenue streams
Recognising that there was scope for people to use the Croydon car park during the evenings and overnight, we made sure car parking prices were optimised to encourage people to use the facility 24 hours a day. We also approached local hotels who didn’t have car parking facilities with the offer to provide subsidised guest parking – bringing even more vehicles to the car park.
